Eugenia Alcázar was born in Alcalá de Henares one August night. She did her best drawings before she was five. Now that she is grown up, her illustrations appear in books, in the press and in advertising. Lately she has also published three children’s picture books, although this hasn’t made her cleverer or richer but it does make her happy, which is the most important thing.
She won the First Prize in the Certámen de Ilustración del Ayuntamiento de San Martín de la Vega in 2008, and was shortlisted for the CJ Picture Book Awards in South Korea in each of the three years that she took part (2009, 2010 y 2011). She gives talks and workshops in schools and libraries about her books and about illustration.
Her latest book is an illustrated collection of short stories for adults, about the contradictions and peculiarities that unite and divide us, and make us human.
